2026 THEME
“It is The Day of the Lord”
MONTHLY FOCUS
“Hearing the Voice of God”
We are living in the “Last Days”. The prophecies of old are being fulfilled before our very eyes. The Word of God in 2 Tim. 3:1 (AMPC) states: “But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].”
I encourage you to take the time to read the entirety of chapter 3. The Apostle Paul exhorts and admonishes us in the midst of these perilous times to rely upon the truth found in the Holy Scriptures. According to verse 16: “Every Scripture is God-breathed…”. That is to say that every Scripture is not only given through His divine inspiration, but also spoken from His mouth. The Lord Jesus Himself said: “….It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Matt. 4:4 (NKJV) It is imperative that we know The Word, but we must also know His Voice.
My Father passed away in 2011. Though I have not heard him “speak” to me in an audible voice since then, I would still know and recognize his voice today. I can still “hear his voice” in my mind and heart. You see—I know him and I know his voice. Jesus said in John 10 that His sheep both hear and recognize His voice. And they can also discern the voice of a stranger. Beloved, it is of critical importance in this “Day” to know and recognize the voice of our Father and Shepherd. We must heed and hear. We must never follow the voice of a stranger!
How do we accomplish this? Knowledge and recognition of God’s voice begins with your own intimate relationship with him. The New Birth has brought you into covenant with Almighty God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The by-product of this union is that you come to know the voice of God through His Written Word (logos) and His Spoken Word (Rhema). God speaks to His children. We also know His voice through the life of His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the Living Word. And finally, we know His voice through the divine unction of the Holy Spirit (His voice within us). The Holy Spirit confirms both the written and spoken Word of God to us, and also the character of Jesus within us. The integrity and agreement of these components teach us to hear and recognize the voice of God. When there is a failure of agreement, there is the presence of a lie, a false witness. When God speaks, there is ALWAYS agreement!
As you study the Scriptures for the month of February, they will be divided by the four components: the written Word, the spoken Word, the Living Word and through the Holy Spirit. Train your ears to hear and heed the voice of God.
“Now I’ll listen carefully for your voice and wait to hear whatever you say. Let me hear your promise of peace—the message every one of your godly lovers longs to hear. Don’t let us in our ignorance turn back from following you.” Ps. 85:8 (TPT)
