There’s Power in the blood of JESUS

“ And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,……...But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Eph. 2:1,13)

There’s Power in the blood of Jesus!

In the beginning, God created the man, Adam. He entered into covenant with Him. This covenant was a binding agreement, a promise, a mutual undertaking established and confirmed by God Himself.  He gave the man dominion and authority over the earth. He then set him in the garden of Eden to tend and to keep it. His one command: “ Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. With Adam’s disobedience, the covenant was broken. The curse of sin entered the world.  Even in this—God had a Plan of Redemption, (to buy back, pay a ransom, set free).
This is where the blood sacrifice was first implemented. (See Gen. 3:21)
In the Old Testament, a blood sacrifice is required to make atonement (to cover, make reconciliation, appease, cleanse). A blood sacrifice is “A life for a life”. According to Lev. 17:11:
“...for the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify        you, making you right with the Lord. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible. (NLT)
It is also written, “Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.” (Heb. 9:22c NLT)
Jesus Christ gave His life and shed His blood in fulfillment of the Old Covenant and establishment of the New and Better Covenant.  His shed blood ultimately satisfied the requirements of God’s Justice. God’s judgment was fully put upon Christ. He is the Blameless Sacrifice, the Lamb without blemish, our Passover.
This month, as we embark on the Holy Season, we will examine Scriptures in the Old and New Testaments about God’s purpose and plan of Redemption. We will come to a greater understanding of the power in the blood! See the portraits of Christ in the Old Testament. Note the fulfillment of every provision. Make a list of the blessings purchased by His blood as made evident in the daily readings. Please take the time to define and understand the meaning of the terms: atonement, justification, sanctification, remission, reconciliation, and propitiation.
Surely having a greater revelation will give us an even greater appreciation for the awesome price that was paid for our freedom! May the celebration in this Holy Season be unprecedented!
